Motorcycle Suspension Specialists SSR Suspension Ltd were founded in 2014, born from the engineering passion of founder Mark Standley, who after working as a race mechanic in the European Le Mans Series, one of the toughest motorsports arenas in the world and the UK’s demanding road racing scene, realised that there was a pressing need for road and race suspension specialists across the West Midlands region.
A long-standing biker on road and track, Mark Standley spent years further investing his time and engineering knowledge in honing the suspension on his own machines and studying chassis design and development before deciding to turn his experiences and engineering qualifications into .
Mark qualified from Staffordshire University with a BSc in Motorsport Technology having already completed one successful career in HM Forces, retiring from the service in 2005. His drive and ability landed him a job at JWA Racing, working on the company’s Aston Martin and Porsche racing programmes in ELMS and in Formula Renault and Formula Ford. With the economic down slide of the recession in 2009 an opportunity formed which allowed Mark to follow his passion of motorcycles and work in the close knit field of road racing and at the start of 2015 the opportunity arose for SSR Suspension to work alongside Race Technicians from 'Öhlins Racing AB' with formal training in Ohlins Race Products and work in British Superbikes.
Mark continually undertakes professional development, attending the UK's only Motorcycle Suspension School and conducting factory level training with Andreani in their world-class facility in Italy, alongside factory training with KYB - Technical Touch (Off Road) at their Race HQ in Belguim. In addition he has received product technical training with Mupo Race Suspension and Nitron, allowing SSR Suspension to become a full Nitron dealer and technical centre and to be able to conduct work on multiple brands.
SSR Suspension Ltd currently supports the Wirral 100 Race Series, Aintree MCC, The Welsh Road Race and track day events such as Shawbury Rider. Providing set-up, tuning and advice both in the workshop and trackside. When time allows you will find us on the 'SSR Suspension Yamaha YZF R1' on track enjoying our free time or conducting testing.
Suspension technology never stays still and so neither does SSR Suspension.
